Pine Crest vs. The Bolles
School
Pine Crest Men and Women took on
Bolles the State Champions in swimming and diving tonight at the
Woodson pool and it was one of the most exciting meets since the
early dual meets against St. Thomas back in 2002. Bolles won
both the boys and girls meets but Pine Crest got their attention
and that of everyone else who came to see a classic meet against
two strong teams. It was 170.5 to 138.5 for the Lady Panthers
and 177 to 123 for the boys but the scores do not tell the story of
all the great racing that took place tonight.
It started with the girls 200 Medley Relay and while Bolles won the
race our Lady Panthers, Stephanie Moeller, Nathalie Bijlsma,
Mallory McKeon, Brittany Hammond all did their life time best
splits and demonstrated that Pine Crest was ready to race.
The boys 200 Medley Relay of Delaney Brock, Michal Rokita, Jose
Arrillaga, Descartes Holland also turned in a solid
performance. In the 200 free Siena DeVenuto, Alina
Schulhofer, Brittany Hammond went 1-2-3 to get everyone’s
attention it was "Game On"! Then Thomas Veale, Julian
Jimenez, Austin Evenson went 1-3-5 in the mens 200 free to
underscore that Pine Crest wanted to race.
Rebecca Aiello and Mallory McKeon went 1-2 in the next event the
200 IM and Miriam Crispo made sure PC got the last point in the
event; Michal Rokita, Ryan Walter, Delaney Brock placed 3-5-6 in
the mens 200 IM. In the 50 free Stephanie Moeller, Megan Smith,
Nathalie Bijlsma, Ana Rodriguez all scored for Pine Crest, with
Gotti Eisenberger, Descartes Holland and Armand Aguiree also
getting points in the 50 free. Our divers went 1-2-3-4 with
Jennifer Aguirre, Cheyenne Allenby, Ebony Calloway, Eva Hale and
the boys were 1-2 with Andrew Herbert and Noah Srour.
In the 100 fly Ana Rodriguez, Miriam Crispo, Miriyam Ghali all
scored along with Jose Arrillaga, Erik Erton, and Ryohei
Takatsuchi. Then Pine Crest went on to win the next several
events, with Alina Schulhofer getting the victory in the 100 free,
along with Brittany Hammond and Megan Smith scoring points in the
race. Gotti Eisenberger won the 100 free, and Descartes
Holland, Armand Aguirre also scored in the 100. Siena
DeVenuto won the 500 free, with Rebecca Aiello placing 3rd and
Hannah Veale scoring in the race. Thomas Veale won the mens
500 with Austin Evenson, 3rd and Julian Jimenez 4th.
Bolles won the 200 free relays for both girls and boys but Pine
Crest put up their best times to date. In the 100 back,
Stephanie Moeller, Miriyam Ghali and Abby Beauchamp all scored for
the Panthers, as did Delaney Brock, Ryan Walter, and Erik Erton for
the boys 100 back. Mallory McKeon tied for 3rd in the 100
breast and Nathalie Bijlsma, and Kaelah Chaney scored for the
PC. In the boys 100 breast Michal Rokita won by .01 of a
second, with Ryohei Takatsuchi and Edward Walker grabbing more
points for Pine Crest.
Bolles won the final two relays but the Panthers raced from start
to finish and the meet ended on a high note as our team walked over
to Bolles and shook the hands of their athletes, it was a GREAT
meet.
Thanks to all the fans who came out to watch this meet.
It is Great to be a Pine Crest Panther!
